Job vacancy - Sustainable design specialist
Pollard Thomas Edwards is looking to recruit a Sustainable design specialist for an initial 3-month FTC with opportunity to be extended.
The role involves a carrying out a range of environmental assessments for large-scale housing and mixed-use projects – both new and retrofit projects.
You will be part of a team responsible for environmental design on a variety of projects at all RIBA stages, including research into embodied carbon, climate resilience, sustainability reporting and environmental modelling of daylight/sunlight, overheating, energy performance.
You will have experience of PAS2035, retrofit assessments and energy assessments for new and retrofit residential projects in the UK.
You will be an ambassador for PTE, advocating and applying our sustainable quality standards required to meet the challenges of the climate crisis.
Key duties include:
- Domestic retrofit assessments (PAS 2035, RdSAP, PHPP)
- Producing energy assessments (IES, SAP or similar) and reports - producing sustainability and energy assessments reports for planning and building control
- Advising project teams and clients on good sustainable design practice and providing design solutions that meet the relevant targets.
Skill requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of energy assessments and sustainable design in a UK based consultancy, architectural or engineering practice
- Domestic Energy Assessor or Retrofit Assessor (PAS 2035: 2022)
- Experience of building physics UK planning and construction
- Preparing sustainability reports for residential projects in UK
- A good knowledge of UK regulations and London plan standards for energy, embodied carbon, climate change mitigation
- Clear written and verbal presentational skills.
- A degree in Environmental Architecture, Engineering or Technology is advantageous.
Salary dependent on experience (£30k - £40k)
